Week 26

Area: Chanute, KS
Companion: Elder Christensen

This week has been super cool. Monday we only had a partial P-day  because we went to the temple on Saturday. So after shopping and emailing we walked around Chanute mostly and tried a lot of potentials and knocked some doors.

Then Tuesday we again walked most of the day, we were getting low on  miles for the month, and we made a map of all the potentials in Chanute. Then we knocked on a lot of doors trying to find people. We had a lesson with a less active family who we will start coming over more often, and a part member family who we met a couple of weeks ago. We also dropped a lot of people this past week, trying to find and focus on those who are truly ready and prepared. Missionaries in the future
will find them and hopefully they will be ready.

Wednesday we had district meeting and it was Elder Roberts and Sister Reeves last district meeting so we made it a funeral.

Thursday we did the same thing with the map, the only problem with doing that is most of the referrals are from like two years ago because Elders were taken out of the area for a while. So most people aren't interested. Although we did get pulled into a random meat party, that was pretty sweet. We knocked on a door and some guys came around the corner of the house, and it turns out that we had already talked with one of them before. He had stopped us on the street and asked to talk with us. So we talked with him and a couple others for a few minutes and then they invited us in for their party. It was a church groups "guys night" and all they had was meat and one guy brought like a salad dish and he had to wear this goofy hat of shame.  It was the best. They were all very nice but have very different views than we do, but we still had a good time.

Friday we went up to Iola to have dinner with the Iola Sisters and the Paola Elders. The Elders had to come down for Matts baptismal interview so they just came down for lunch. Elder Roberts had the
interview with Matt and he passed and was all set to get baptized on Sunday.

Saturday we left for the temple at about 6:45 and we went through with a family for their first time. Then they were sealed to each other and she was sealed to her parents and then their two boys were sealed to the both of them. It was so cool. It has been a while since I was able to go to the temple and it was fun. We had lunch at Freddy's then we drove back. We got home at about 6:45 and had a lesson with Jon Love the 7th at 7:00. It was a cool day.

Sunday Matt asked me to baptize him. The service started at 9:00 and he was baptized and then Elder Christensen confirmed him in sacrament meeting. My mom was able to send us a quad scripture set with Matt's name on it, and we gave it to him. He really liked it and had a really awesome experience. It was great.

Mindy received this message from President Boyack this week:
I love Elder Jensen! I had the privilege of teaming up with him about two weeks into his mission. He has a wonderful spirit about him, loves the Lord and loves the work. He is doing great and the Olathe stake of Zion is wonderfully blessed to have him. Thank you for sending us such a wonderful young man!
