Week 63

Area: Ottawa, KS
Companions: Elder Jeffery

Well, I'm pretty sure Kansas is broken. The beginning of the week it snowed and was in the 20s, then yesterday it was in the 90s! I don't know what to believe anymore.

This week has been amazing. We have seen so many small miracles. We have been working hard and talking with literally everyone we see.

We have been meeting with Twila everyday this week and she is preparing to be baptized on April 8th. We have had some amazing team ups and have felt the Spirit. One lesson we came with the Fishers, a recent convert couple, but we had to leave to go to another appointment. So we left the Fishers there and they stayed for another hour just answering questions, it was perfect!

We met another lady named Dorris. We were tagging along with two brethren to help with their home teaching. They stopped by a lady who lives in a retirement home. We had the lesson in the lobby area and Dorris was there so we invited her to stay and listen as well. She really enjoyed it and we asked if we could come back. She said yes and the next day we came and taught the restoration. The spirit was so strong and she is a sweet lady, but she has bad problems with her memory and usually remembers us but not really anything that we taught. So we will still probably visit her, but she wouldn't be able to pass a baptismal interview to get baptized. Maybe we are just preparing her for the other side.

On Saturday we helped an inactive family move. They had a ton of very heavy furniture and the only people that showed up were us and 3 other brothers who were all probably around 70 years old. So by the end Elder Jeffery and I were completely exhausted and sore. We were there from about 9:00 - 5:00, then we had a couple different lessons with people.

So this week the Russian Vex has started to bloom. They are purple flowers that grow close to the ground and take over farm fields. Apparently they are a bad weed, but imagine literally as far as you can see (because it's flat Kansas) and every farm field is covered in bright purple flowers. I wasn't able to get any pictures because I was driving, but it was beautiful.

This week has been a lot of hard work, but there is so much work to be done here and we are excited to see more of it coming! Thank you!

Elder Jensen
